Dr. Wong is the Chief of Orthopedic Surgery at El Camino Hospital. He received his Bachelor of Science with Honors from Brown University and his medical degree from the University of Maryland in 1983. He did his Orthopedic residency at Hamot Medical Center in Pennsylvania. In addition, Dr. Wong completed specialty training in Sports Medicine at Duke University, Orthopedic Trauma at the University of California Davis, and Pediatric Orthopedics at the Shriners’ Hospital.
Certified by the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgery, Dr. Wong also has subspecialty certification in Sports Medicine. He is a member of the Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, and has been an instructor at the Academy’s Orthopedic Learning Center in Illinois.
As an active community member, Dr. Wong has served as Team Physician for Gavilan Community College, Live Oak and St. Francis High Schools, and the Mt. View Flyers semi-pro football team. He was an event physician for the US Gymnastics Olympic trials, the US Figure Skating Championships, and PGA Frys.com Open. He is a golfing member of CordeValle Golf Club in San Martin and La Rinconada Country Club in Los Gatos. He is also a tennis member at Courtside CLub in Los Gatos, and competes on USTA teams.
Dr. Wong specializes in a minimally invasive technique in total hip replacement called the anterior approach. Using a specially designed surgical table, surgeons can perform hip replacement surgery while leaving key muscles and soft tissues undisturbed. This can mean a faster recovery and no restrictions after surgery.
Dr. Wong enjoys private practice because he can continue to provide personalized care to his patients. He spends time getting to know his patients, and designs individualized treatment plans, utilizing state-of-the-art techniques to ensure the best possible outcome on a case by case basis.
